Renowned Star The actor Pat Finn, Famed For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
US performer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved TV shows like "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in LA on Monday after undergoing cancer treatment beginning in 2022, per news outlets.
"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a statement.
They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".
A Notable TV Career
Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, including:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Outside of his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn guided, supported, and advised many learners throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
Offering condolences, fellow actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he shared online.
The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
