Netflix Chooses Ideal Performer for Mr. 2 in One Piece Third Season
Baroque Works is geared up to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the real showdown won’t take place until the next season, and a cherished, popular member has recently been selected.
Netflix announced this week that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Bon Clay. The role has the ability to change into an exact copy of anyone they’ve touched with their dominant hand. The performer, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that character re-envisioned as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag queen, in the live-action show, as in the initial comic and animated series.
This performer will work alongside multiple recently announced actors tasked with bringing the organization to the screen, featuring leader the main antagonist, played by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the ensemble as the monarch of the fictional land.
Even though the role is a key figure of the group, the character won’t appear until One Piece season 3. Considering the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this represents a significant shift in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could suggest further changes to the narrative framework.
Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the part. In addition to their recent voice performance in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.
Netflix's live-action One Piece series is scheduled to come back for its next installment on the tenth of March, 2026.
