Brian Eno Calls On Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort seeks to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
Production History and Star-Studded Lineup
The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of artists contributing to Lullaby encompasses a selection of well-known figures from the industry. All were part of the September show, which managed to collect a significant sum for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a group of talented individuals. The song blends a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The organizers behind the initiative have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Of course, the more the merrier. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was characterized as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of buildings said to be destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a few million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The track is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
